Adventures in Drama Jr.              

Pre k-1st grade (Children must be 4 or older and potty-trained)
“Once upon a time…” These words are the portal into fantastic adventures and imaginative journeys. This class offers your young one a great introduction to drama and is a guaranteed imagination builder. Each class session, students will listen to and tell stories and then use movement, props and teamwork to bring to life the pictures they create in their imaginations. They’ll learn to develop a dramatic character through problem solving in stories and begin to grow in their love for theatre.

10am-2pm  Monday-Friday, 1 week - $185.00

Your child’s imagination provides the script in this class that challenges and excites some of our youngest theatre students as they learn theatre terms, play games that reinforce important skills and work together to tell a compelling story. Each class session, students will listen to and tell stories and then use movement, props and teamwork to bring to life the pictures they create in their imagination. They’ll learn to develop a dramatic character through problem solving in stories and begin to grow in their love for theatre.

Art of Comedy for Kids

2nd-3rd grades
Perfect for our youngest comedians, The Art of Comedy for Kids will teach kids how to tickle the funny bone of their friends and family. They’ll be introduced to improvisation, work together to build comedic scenes, and begin to learn just what makes funny things so funny! Prepare yourself and your students for big laughs when they put it all together into a comedy showcase at the end of the week. Taught by Solomon Davis and Rob Martin.

Art of Comedy for Youth             

4th-6th grade 
This exciting, challenging and hilarious camp opens your child’s eyes to the comedy all around them. Students will learn the secrets of comedic acting and develop comedic timing and skills as they explore everything from improv to slapstick and pratfalls. They’ll also spend time learning sketches and lessons from some of histories great comedians. Don’t forget to come to a performance of comedic proportions at the end of the week! Taught by Solomon Davis and Rob Martin.

Youth Summer Showcase

4th-6th grade
This camp provides all the fun and excitement of putting on a great production in just one week! From getting cast to rehearsing and preparing for a final production, youth will have a great time working together and developing their acting skills. Get ready for an action packed, fast paced theatre adventure as students come together to memorize lines, learn stage blocking, and go through tech rehearsals just like the professionals.

Musical Theatre Revue

4th-12th grade
A perfect introduction to musical theatre or a great opportunity to hone musical theatre skills! Your young actor will sing, dance and act during this week of theatrical fun and friendship. Students will put all their new skills together in a performance on the final day of camp that will be made up of large group numbers, duets, and more as the entire company sings some of the greatest songs in musical theatre. Each week will have a different, exciting theme. Directed by Jenny Cross, musical direction by Debbie Evans.

Shakespeare Daycamp (1 week)

4th-12th grade
William Shakespeare is one of the greatest storytellers to ever write for the stage, and this summer students will make his words come alive. In this camp students will learn to “be not afraid of greatness”, get to know Shakespeare and his plays, immerse themselves into the language, and then perform a shortened version of one of his great comedies. As one of Shakespeare’s comedic characters might say, in doing so they will achieve greatness!

Musical Theatre Supercamp (2 weeks) **Enrollment has closed**

Shakespeare Supercamp (2 weeks)

4th-12th grade
All the world’s a stage and the actors in this camp are its fantastic players! It’s time for your student to brush up their Shakespeare as they spend two weeks learning the language, movement, voice and acting techniques needed to make the words of one of the greatest playwrights come alive. The camp culminates in two performances of a shortened version of one of Shakespeare’s great plays – and probably to a lifetime of admiration for the Bard himself.

Advanced Musical Theatre Supercamp (2 weeks)

4th-12th grade
Give my regards to Broadway! Aimed at young actors and serious artists in training, this class is for those who want a taste of the professional world of musical theatre. If your student wants the thrill of accomplishment in being a part of a show that comes together in just two weeks and wants to take their performance to a new level then this camp is for them! Each student will audition for a place in camp and those who are accepted will audition for a role and be cast in a challenging Broadway-style musical. Directed by Jenny Cross, musical direction by Debbie Evans.

Pre-requisite: 2 Taproot Theatre Musical camps, or related experience and audition with camp instructor

Art of Comedy for Teen

7th-12th grade
Make ‘em laugh! Don’t you know everybody wants to laugh?!? This rousing one-week camp will help develop your teenage actor’s comedic timing as they learn the rules of improv, work together on comedic scenes, hone their stand up skills, and develop their own voice as a comedian. Family and friends will get a chance to laugh until they cry at the end of week performance. Taught by Solomon Davis and Rob Martin.

Teen Showcase

7th-12th grade
If you have ever watched a favorite actor or actress on stage or on screen and thought to yourself “how do they do that?” then this camp is for you! This camp is all about what the actor can bring to the rehearsal process. As students delve into the text, they’ll be challenged to make bold and detailed character decisions and fully immerse themselves in the world of the play as they respond in the moment. Experience is not required, but a desire to learn and the ability to take risks are! Students will be amazed at what they’ve accomplished when it all comes together in the final performance.

Audition!

7th-12th
Is your young actor itching to jump into the world of professional acting? This camp will prepare them for one of the most vital parts of acting: auditions. Our team will lead them through the process of auditioning from start to finish, and they will leave this class with a professional résumé, headshot and monologue. During the week students will get the chance to interact with some of the best and brightest artists and Taproot professionals who know what it takes to excel in this industry.
