Rooted in Beauty
Taproot Theatre Company exists to create theatre that explores the beauty and questions of life…
BEAUTY (byü-tē): A quality that is most effective, gratifying, or telling.
Eleven-year-old “Brian” was a shy kid. He didn’t speak up in class or play sports, and he couldn’t quite connect with other kids at school—which only made him shier and lonelier. But when he stepped onstage for the final performance at Musical Theatre Revue camp last June, he shone. His hard work paid off and his classmates cheered him on, as he remembered every line, every piece of choreography, and sang his heart out. At the end of the week, he asked his parents to sign him up for the following week’s camp as well, “So I can do it even better!” he proclaimed, smiling wide. And this year, Brian joined us for Shakespeare camp.
Life does not always feel beautiful. It can feel lonely or frightening. It can feel empty. But at Taproot, we know that beauty is within reach, and it’s always worth searching for. That’s why we rejoice in kids like Brian, and work hard to help them develop a new skill, new passions, and new friendships. The beauty that Brian went home with is far more than skin deep.
Will you help us nurture Beauty in hundreds more kids through the Acting Studio?
