Name:

The Jewell Mainstage was named after longtime donors and volunteers, Bud and Edna Jewell, in 1996.

History:

After many years of touring and operating out of a leased space in Kenmore, Taproot Theatre Company purchased a movie house (formerly called the Grand Theatre and Rainbow Theatre among other names) in Greenwood in 1988 with the intention of renovating and producing theatre in it. After some temporary renovations and usage of office spaces, the Jewell Mainstage Theatre was fully renovated and opened its doors to patrons in 1996.

As part of a Washington State Commerce grant from the State of Washington, the Jewell Mainstage Theatre was renovated in 2025, receiving improvements to the carpet, paint, electrical systems, seating, and marquee.
