GENERAL POLICIES

Payment: There is a $25 registration deposit to hold the student’s place in class, which goes toward tuition. Any remaining payment will automatically be processed after the first day of class. If you would like make arrangements for a payment plan, email the Acting Studio at .

Refund Policy:
  • If Taproot Theatre’s Acting Studio cancels a class, a full refund will be issued.
  • If a student withdraws before the first day of class, a refund will be issued minus a $25 registration fee.
  • If a student attends the first day of class but withdraws before the start of the second day, a refund will be issued minus the cost of one session plus a $25 registration fee.
  • After the start of the second class there are no refunds.

Discounts: Discounts are given to multiple family members and to students taking more than one class. There is a 5% discount when you register for two classes, and a 10% discount if you register for three or more classes. This discount is only valid when you register for all classes at the same time.

Attendance & Expectations: Because of the collaborative nature of theatre, your student needs to be at camp every day. Please have your student bring a sack lunch, snack and water each day, as well as a notebook and pencil with eraser. In order to best serve your student, please inform us of any and all medical, emotional, behavioral [i.e. Allergies, ADHD, etc.]) concerns that may affect your student’s participation in class . We strive to create the best atmosphere for all students and need sufficient time to develop strategies for serving your child’s needs. We reserve the right to remove children from the classroom who are continually disruptive or unable to participate fully in the class activities.

Class Cancellations: If enrollment is insufficient we reserve the right to cancel class. In this case, all tuition paid would be returned in full, including the $25 registration fee.

Media Release: As an adult participant of Taproot’s Acting Studio program Taproot Theatre reserves the right to use the participant’s photograph, likeness, video, or voice recording, for broadcast or publication in any and all media. Participant releases any claims of copyright, libel, slander, violation of privacy, or similar rights. For Pre-K through 12th grade programs, please see registration form for media release.

TUITION POLICY

Taproot Theatre is happy to provide discounts to schools and families who demonstrate financial need. Financial assistance is available to both students and schools who wish to participate in Taproot Theatre’s Acting Studio and Educational Touring.

Taproot believes all students should have access to the arts and art education. To encourage a meaningful experience for education participants Taproot requires all students and schools to make a financial contribution at the level they are able. When possible, Taproot will discount the cost of tuition or the touring fee to meet the remaining need.

INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY 

In the event of inclement weather, Taproot’s Acting Studio will follow the recommendation of Seattle Public Schools in determining if a class or camp should be canceled.  If Seattle Public Schools remains open for the day, class or camp will be held as scheduled.

In the event that Seattle Public Schools is on break while classes/camps are being held, Taproot will follow the recommendation of the city’s universities (i.e. University of Washington, Seattle Pacific University). For classes/camps offered on a federal holiday, Taproot will follow WSDOT reports of road conditions to assess whether a class or camp should be canceled. For day camps occurring from 10:00 AM-4:00 PM or 10:00 AM-2:00 PM, camp cancellation information will be posted no later than 8:30 AM on Taproot’s website. For evening classes, class cancellation information will be posted no later than 3:00 PM on Taproot’s website.

In the event that a day of camp must be canceled due to inclement weather, a pro-rated amount will be refunded for the missed day. No refund will be given if the student is unable to attend a day of camp despite camp being held. In the event that inclement weather causes a cancellation on a performance date of a camp/class, every effort will be made to reschedule the performance opportunity for a day when the theatre is available for a performance.
