Will you help Taproot share the joy of theatre?

While we share the hope and sparkle of the season, we think about FAMILY and what that word means to Taproot. This organization has served many families over its 45 years, and that service provides joy and inspiration to us every day. Our Taproot family is special, and we are so happy you’re a part of it!

We have two father-daughter teams on our Board of Directors and both represent the long-term connection that Taproot has with families. Click play below to hear David Woodward and Amanda Woodward Davis share their Taproot family story!

At Taproot, family also means a legacy of support from families like Bud & Edna Jewell’s.

“Almost 30 years ago, I met Bud and Edna Jewell after a performance. Who’d have guessed that they’d quickly become treasured friends to all the staff and genuine patron saints? Bud had recently retired as the CEO of Boeing Employee Credit Union, finished a PhD, and wanted to volunteer to transfer our manual accounting and payroll records into a comprehensive computerized accounting system…in addition to serving as the Chair of our Board of Directors. What started as a 4–6-week accounting project became an extended partnership leading up to completing the theatre renovation in 1996. In recognition of Bud and Edna’s wisdom, encouragement, and generosity, the Board of Directors and staff of Taproot Theatre Company enthusiastically named the performance space The Jewell Auditorium.”

– Scott Nolte, co-founder & Producing Artistic Director Emeritus

Bud and Edna’s son, Mike, and his wife Barb, have continued that legacy. They’ve been subscribers since the late 1990s as well as regular donors. With the generosity of heart passed down from the earlier generation of Jewells, Mike and Barb offered a gift of $10,000 as a challenge match for the kickoff of our end-of-year fundraising campaign. This year’s campaign was matched dollar-for-dollar by the Jewell Family Match by early December. A huge thank you to Mike and Barb for sharing the joy of giving this season!
