Dear Friends,
Welcome to Taproot Theatre’s 51st Season: Five Stories. One Unforgettable Year. After 50 extraordinary years of storytelling, Taproot is thrilled to step into our 51st Season with a lineup that’s bold, joyful, and full of heart. Our 2027 Jewell Mainstage Season brings together five remarkable productions, each a celebration of resilience, laughter, love, and the power of hope.
We open with FANNIE: The Music and Life of Fannie Lou Hamer by Seattle’s very own Cheryl L. West, a stirring musical tribute to one of the most influential voices of the Civil Rights Movement. Then, we swing into the wit and romance of Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility, Jessica Swale’s freshly adapted yet timeless story about love, family, and finding your way. Next is Deepak Kumar’s House of India, which invites us all to experience the richness of a family-owned Indian restaurant torn between honoring tradition and embracing new ideas. A sequel to 2025’s Murder on the Links, Hercule Poirot returns to Taproot in Peril in the Alps, a hilarious and theatrical murder mystery by Steven Dietz with six actors playing 29 roles. Closing the season is the quirky, laugh-out-loud Tony Award-winning musical The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee by William Finn and Rachel Sheinkin.
Five shows. Five worlds. One season that moves us, makes us laugh, and reminds us why we gather in the theatre. We can’t wait to share it with you!
